Lost in Online Music Downloads

Is your child lost in online music downloads? School-info4u.com is aware that many of our young people are hooked on a diet of MTV and U channel.

The music that our young people listen too has a big impact on them. When they hear certain lyrics over and over again, they often begin to make it a part of their own reality, so why not try to make sure that the messages your child is receiving through music are positive ones?

Hip-Hop: The thug life

Hip-hop artists, singers and bands have the power to influence millions of our young people in a positive way.

All they have to do is realize that their lyrics can do more than just make money. We don’t seem to value one another or ourselves in the same way that we used to and this is manifesting itself in the music.

If your child is constantly listening to music that glamorizes a ‘thuggish’ and materialistic lifestyle, this will be sending them the wrong message. It shouldn’t be about portraying women as 'ho’s' and ‘bitches’ or talking about fast money, cars and platinum jewellery all the time.

There’s nothing wrong with making music about ’bling’ and fashion labels, but there should be a balance. They should ‘keep it real’ and deal with reality, but why do our young people have to see only one type of reality all the time?

Music can definitely mould and influence our children, so we should try to ensure that they are exposed to messages that encourage them to do things like stay in school, become a leader and avoid drugs.

A materialistic living shouldn’t be put above getting an education and making something of your life.

Child, music and inspiration

It’s important that your child takes time to listen to positive music that puts across an inspiring and empowering message.

It should reaffirm their potential and make them feel good. At its best, music should inspire the listener, leaving them thinking on a higher level.

The mind grows by what it feeds on and music can be used to change the way our young people think. Music can fill someone up with spirit and pick them up when they’re down.

The music that your child listens to should make them believe that they to can rise up and make something of themselves through knowledge, motivation and focus.

Our children literally idolize singers, rappers and MC’s and they have such a huge impact on their lives, they are role models and need to consider what effects their lyrics and actions might have on the young people that listen to their music.

School-info4u.com desperately wants artists to blaze a new trail and kick-start a new wave of music. We are confident that this music will catch on, and when it does people of colour will finally begin to prosper.

We can all do our bit by encouraging our young people to listen to music that spreads a message of peace, unity, and empowerment.

‘Do not follow where the path may lead- go instead where there is no path and leave a trail’.
