Its Bigger Than Hip Hop. Influential Artists

Its bigger than hip hop is a guide that is intended for parents and carers who care about the culture that inspires their child. School-info4u.com believes that it is important to salute the influential artists that are our modern day heroes and heroines.

The artists that we have chosen to highlight have the money, education and opportunity to influence our young people in a positive way.

Some may argue that certain artists are not positive role models, but this is only because we often don’t get to see what those artists are involved in outside of their music.

These artists give back to our community in meaningful ways, whilst promoting achievement as well.

Nowadays artists have their own record label, clothes line, drink etc. Our young people are being shown that anything is possible.

The conscious hip-hop artists are now doing just as well as the commercial hip-hop artists, but they still need more attention. Artists like Mos Def and Common promote positive values.

R&B artists such as Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Corinne Bailey Rae, Dwele Musiq, Floetry, Lauryn Hill and India Arie also promote positive conscious lyrics.

‘Fantasy is what people want, but reality is what they need.’ Lauryn Hill.

Our young people can achieve just as much as the artists that they idolize, but it is important to remind them that success and achievement isn’t just about financial rewards.

There are a lot of artists who have demonstrated this through their actions. Theses role models are giving back to their community and uplifting those around them.

There is positive hip-hop, negative hip-hop and hip-hop that falls somewhere between the two.

If you are concerned about the music that your child listens to, this guide will help you to find hip-hop that promotes growth and positivity.

Educate your child through music and help them to understand that ‘good beats’ can also feature positive lyrics.
